Flying Pigs Saga Continued: WHO admits no deadly mutation of H1N1 Swine Flu PDF Print E-mail
Written by F. William Engdahl
Monday, 19 October 2009 19:45
flushotsThe World Health Organization, the UN agency (ir-)responsible for declaring a Phase 6 "PANDEMIC" global alert over what it calls H1N1 Influenza A or Swine Flu, whose chief Dr Margaret Chan has repeatedly warned that while Swine Flu to date had been rather mild, that the emergency declaration was necessary because it "could mutate" aggressively into a deadly pandemic killing millions, now admits well into the flu season in the Northern Hemisphere that H1N1 has apparently not mutated.

Margaret Chan, the head of the World Health Organization, at a meeting with health officials in her native Hong Kong, has just stated that the swine flu virus has not yet mutated into a more deadly strain. WHO Director of the Initiative for Vaccine Research, Dr Marie-Paule Kieny, reinforced that statement in a press conference September 24 in Geneva when she stated, "we are lucky that the pandemic is moderate in severity that most people experience a mild illness and recover spontaneously." That means recovery with no vaccination, no Tamiflu or other dangerous "antiviral" drugs. Just with letting nature take its course.

Last summer, when the WHO decided to declare a global "pandemic emergency" over what it called the H1N1 Influenza A global spread, it also announced in a notice buried among its press releases that most countries had stopped testing ill populations for H1N1, and that the WHO therefore simply arbitrarily "assumed" all patients with a stated set of symptoms were automatically H1N1 victims. So the H1N1 pandemic case counts, to quote the WHO, "no longer reflect actual disease activity."

You are the Target of a Toxic Chemical’s PR Blitz PDF Print E-mail
Written by Alice Shabecoff
Wednesday, 07 October 2009 01:51

cansThis past spring, the companies that make and use the chemical bisphenol-A, BPA, convened a meeting in Washington, DC, to devise a reassuring media campaign, which they have just now launched. Young mothers aged 21-35 are the target. The meeting minutes noted that their "holy grail" representative would be a pregnant young mother who would be willing to speak around the country about the benefits of BPA. They are out there now looking for her.

BPA is an ingredient in hard plastics, such as #7 polycarbonate baby bottles, sippy cups and reusable sports water bottles, in the resins that line canned foods and soft-drink cans, in PVC pipes, even in dental sealants. BPA is one of the many chemicals, now a constant feature of today's world, that disrupt the way our hormonal systems work. Among all these chemicals, BPA tops the list in volume, at 6.4 billon pounds a year. It generates $6 billion a year for its manufacturers which include Dow and GE Plastic. Soda makers such as Coca-Cola and canned food companies such as Del Monte rely on BPA. These companies sent representatives to the spring meeting and their trade groups will foot the bill for the PR campaign.

BPA leaches into water even from new polycarbonate and resins at room temperature, accelerating with wear or heat. It shows up in the urine of 93 percent of all Americans and, just a few months ago, research found that it doesn't leave the body as easily as previously thought but seems to linger in our fatty tissues.

My Mother Made Me Fat PDF Print E-mail
(1 vote, average 5.00 out of 5)
Written by Alice Shabecoff

weightIf it hadn't been for the Big Macs that Joannie ate pretty much three times a week, she wouldn't have gotten fat. If she hadn't been exposed while in her mother's womb to chemicals x, y and z, Joannie wouldn't have had the propensity to get fat. And if Joannie's mom had eaten more sensibly, both waistlines would be slimmer.

Fat people most likely are programmed to become fat before taking their first sip of milk. Today's news is that pesticides are among the chemicals responsible for this reprogramming.

Two of three U.S. adults are now classified as overweight. Type II diabetes has increased in like measure over the same decades, and so has heart disease. This is not a coincidence. These illnesses share common characteristics: they are triggered while in the womb by exposure to the same kinds of chemicals and the outcomes show up in adulthood. Scientists now call this pattern "the fetal origins of adult diseases."

The most likely culprits are chemicals now grouped together under the rubric "endocrine disrupters." It's been known for about two decades, though disputed by the manufacturers, that these chemicals alter the normal signaling pathways of hormones. Think of Bisphenol A (BPA), right now the nation's most celebrated endocrine disruptor.

Study clearly demonstrates that aluminum found in vaccines can cause neurologic damage PDF Print E-mail

injectionRandi Allaire was an Information Management Specialist in the military for almost four years. Three and one-half years were spent with the Air National Guard as Information Management, the previous five and half was with the Army Guard as a Flight Operations Specialist.

As part of the military's program to protect their troops from chemical and biological weapons, Randi was required to take the anthrax vaccine. On March 14, 1999 she was given her fourth anthrax vaccine. It was after that shot that she has suffered chronic fatigue, memory lapses, migraines, pain in the forearms, and other aches and pains. She received no help with her condition and only denials that the anthrax vaccine could cause any of these problems and that the cause of her problems was likely the "flu" or too much "stress". She was eventually thrown out of the military because she refused to take the fifth anthrax vaccine shot in fear for her own personal health.

Aluminum is the most commonly licensed adjuvant that is added to a large number of vaccines. An adjuvant is a substance added to a vaccine to amplify the immune response. Aluminum compounds, which were identified over 90 years ago as adjuvants, are considered by the pharmaceutical industry and various government agencies as safe. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has continued to approve the use of aluminum as an additive to vaccines for many years.

Despite these assurances that aluminum and all vaccine ingredients are safe, large numbers of military veterans who suffer from Gulf War Syndrome as well as parents of children who suffer from various neurologic conditions including Autism strongly believe that the vaccines were often at least in part a cause of their health problems.

Commentary: Codex Alimentarius and the Idiocracy PDF Print E-mail
Written by Scott Tips

Three years ago a film came out of Hollywood that was conceptually great even if the execution was fatally flawed. Called Idiocracy, this comedy follows the mishaps of a character named Joe Bowers who is not the sharpest tool in the shed, but who, through a government hibernation experiment gone wrong, awakens to a society in the year 2505 that has become so stupid because of mass commercialism that Joe shines as a genius in comparison. After a predictable series of mishaps, the point is clear: We are on the wrong track in pushing dumbed-down, ‘me too' concepts and products. Society will only worsen, not improve.

Organic vs. Artificial

It is a lesson that modern-day fighters for individual liberty learned decades ago. In ensuring and protecting freedom for the individual, we create a better society. On a pragmatic level, individual liberty is a concept that sees the health and happiness of the parts as leading to the health of the whole - not the reverse. Put another way, individual liberty is organic - when not blocked artificially, it flows naturally and creates healthy relationships in an ever-expanding web of mutually-beneficial interactions among people.

On the other hand, much of today's political and economic structure is not organic but artificial. It comes from the Top down, not the bottom up. It does not flow naturally, easily, and quickly but with artificial constraints that are marked by dissension, delays, and waste. It is, by nature, coercive. ‘You do what we say because you have to and at the ultimate point of a gun. You do not do it voluntarily.'

A New Pediatrics to Heal Sick Children (and Keep Well Kids Healthy) PDF Print E-mail

If your baby were suffering from colic, would you treat him with artificially dyed and sweetened simethicone (the chemical in drugs such as Mylanta and Mylicon) or first try an emulsion of fennel seed oil? If your young daughter developed a persistent rash, would prefer the doctor to prescribe antihistamines or a diet rich in omega fatty acids?

More and more, it's likely you'd give the second choice a try. The big news is that mind-body pediatrics has come of age over the past generation. (Focus on Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Volume XIV, No. 1: Winter 2007.) It's a trend that seems very appropriate for a generation of parents looking for foods without pesticides and cosmetics without solvents.

A major symptom of its acceptance is the publication of the first textbook book on Integrative Pediatrics, edited by the avuncular and reassuring Dr. Andrew Weil, the U.S.'s best known nonconventional medicine practitioner and spokesperson (Integrative Pediatrics, Oxford University Press, 2009). The august National Institutes of Health has set up a center devoted to its study (www.nccam.nih.gov/health) while the American Academy of Pediatrics has formed a practitioners' Section. And you can now find pediatricians across the nation who will use integrative practices to care for your children (www.aap.org/sections/CHIM/ParentResources.html, click on hyperlink to members, select Section on Complementary and Alternative, for a listing by zip code.; also, www.aaemonline.org).

Pesticides and Herbicides: Know the facts and think twice PDF Print E-mail
(2 votes, average 4.00 out of 5)
Written by Chris Wrinn

lawnchemicalsIt is widely known that the pesticides/herbicides we use on our lawns can cause health problems. Many are toxic and are hormone disrupters. They're meant to kill both plants and insects and can cause birth defects, nerve damage, cancer and other problems that can manifest in people in different ways. This would all depend on the extent of exposure. These toxins lodge in the fatty tissues of our bodies accumulating over years which is why it takes years for health issues to become recognizable. Children and pets are especially vulnerable to pesticides.

These toxic chemicals wash into the groundwater and into our precious harbor and sound. We are currently seeing problems with lobsters, bats, bees and frogs. This is a clear warning. Some insects and plants become stronger and are able to adapt to pesticide/herbicide use making the chemical companies create an even stronger mix.

Our nation alone used 540 million pounds of pesticides in 1964 and a staggering 1.1 billion pounds in 1993. The numbers are shocking. When you purchase food at the supermarket, not only is your family ingesting pesticides & herbicides, but huge Agra farms are using billions of pounds which eventually seep into groundwater. All water everywhere in the world is polluted, it's just a matter of degree.

Reversing PSA naturally PDF Print E-mail

wasylCancer. When you hear that word it sends a cold fear through you. You can think the worst - a possible slow agonizing slide towards sickness and death mixed in with medical treatments of chemicals and radiation that seem even worse than the cancer itself.

At age 79, Wasyl made periodic trips to the doctor to make sure his health was good. He prides himself on being healthy - eating very healthy with large salads for lunch almost every day, working actively in the yard, and exercising. He takes a number of vitamins and isn't on any medications which he says is a rarity these days. "Most of our friends and other people we meet at group events and dances are all on one or more drugs." He and his wife Daria often receive compliments on how young they look for their age and how active they both are.

In April of 2007, a routine blood test showed that his PSA level had risen to a level of 9.3 ng/ml (nanograms per milliliter). A PSA, or Prostate-specific antigen, test measures the amount of a protein produced by cells of the prostate gland. PSA can be used to detect disease and is sometimes called a biological marker or a tumor marker. It is normal for men to have a low level of PSA in their blood. Prostate cancer or benign (not cancerous) conditions can increase a man's PSA level. Most doctors considered a PSA level below 4.0 ng/mL as normal and are concerned if the PSA level rises above that. In Wasyl's case the doctor decided to retest a short time later to "watch the PSA level". In June of 2007, a new PSA test showed his PSA had actually increased to 11.8 ng/ml. Wasyl's doctor referred him to a urologist that would schedule a biopsy.
